Dieng Plateau – Land of Gods

Indonesia is a beautiful country, and it’s still to date. There are many tourist resorts that people can find in this country; one of them is Dieng Plateau. It is an active volcano complex situated in Wonosobo, Central Java. It takes about four hours to reach this place from Semarang, the capital city of Central Java Province. This resort offers unforgettable beautiful scenery but also historical sites.

Dieng Plateau is a unique resort that sits at around 2000 meters above sea level. The name of Dieng is originally come from Sanskrit language; “Di” means a very high place, meanwhile “hyang” means gods. So, the combination of the two words means a very high place in which the gods stay. Dieng is a highland with a cold temperature which is unusual for a tropical country like Indonesia. The temperature during the day is about 15-20 Celsius degree, meanwhile at night the temperature reaches 10 Celsius degree. It even reaches 0 Celsius degrees in the morning and often causes frozen fog, which can destroy plants.

Prambanan Temple – Myth, Legend and Worship

Prambanan Temple or sometimes called as Roro Jonggrang temple is recognized as one of the most beautiful Hindu temples in the world. UNESCO has included it as one of the world’s heritages in 1991. Prambanan Temple is the biggest Hindu temple in Indonesia, even in Southeast Asia. The temple is not only famous with its magnificent building, but also with its historical story as well as the legend behinds it.

There is a popular legend among Javanese people that relates to the built of Prambanan Temple. Most Javanese people believe that Prambanan Temple was built because of the power of Bandung Bondowoso. Based on the legend, there was a very beautiful young princess, named Rara Jonggrang. She was the daughter of King Boko. Bandung Bondowoso wanted to marry her. Roro Jonggrang would agree to marry him with one condition. It is said that Bandung
Bondowoso had to build thousand statues in one night. Bandung Bondowoso accepted this condition. When he finished his 999th statue, Roro Jonggrang played a trick on him, so he couldn’t finish all the statues. Then he became angry and cursed Roro Jonggrang to be the last statue. Many people believed that the statue of a lady, who is placed in the temple, is the statue of Roro Jonggrang. That is why the temple is also called as Roro Jonggrang temple.

Keraton Surakarta: an Exotic Palace, a Javanese Symbol

Surakarta Palace, or more popular with Keraton Surakarta Hadiningrat, which is sometimes simply called as Keraton Surakarta is a living place for King Surakarta and his family. It is located in west of Bengawan Solo riverbank. Keraton Surakarta is one of the most important cultural heritages. It has been existed for hundreds of years and had witnessed many historical events in Indonesia. Hence, Keraton Surakarta and all the historical collections inside it are very important.

Keraton Surakarta was built in the era of King Pakubuwono II or Sunan Pakubuwono II. He built it to replace Keraton Kartasura, which ruined because of the riot called Geger Pecinan that occurred in 1734. So, in 1774 Sunan Pakubuwono II decided to build a new palace located in Solo Village. This village is now more popular as Surakarta Hadiningrat.

The Great Mosque of Demak: A Wonderful Heritage of Islamic Culture

Indonesia is a country with the biggest population of moslem in the world. The religion has existed in this country since hundreds years ago. So, there are many heritages of Islamic culture we can find in this country. One of them is the Great Mosque of Demak (Masjid Agung Demak). It is one of the oldest mosques located in Demak City, Central Java. The mosque is very popular with its great architecture as well as the history. Some kings’re buried in the graveyard are Raden Patah

Central Java has a lot of beautiful places destined to be tourists’ destinations. Bledug Kuwu – Uniquely Erupting Mud in Purwodadi Central Java

If you visit Bledug Kuwu for the first time, you may think that it is an ordinary pool. But, if you look at the place longer you will see it is more than an ordinary pool. Umbul Pengging Bathing Place – History and Tradition

Central Java has many historical destinations. The province is very popular with its ancient buildings such as temples, kratons (the
Javanese palaces), museums, and many others. Umbul Pengging Bathing Place is one of the tourism places in Central Java. It is located in Boyolali Residence. It is about 15 kilometers of eastern Boyolali. The bathing place is very special and be the pride of the residence as it has a strong relationship with the history of Kasunanan Surakarta (one of the kingdom in Java Island). The place offers you beautiful scenery with classic atmosphere. The water is so fresh and pure as it originally comes from natural springs.

Umbul Pengging Bathing Place was built by Sunan Pakubuwono X, the king of Surakarta kingdom. It was firstly built as the bathing place for the King of Surakarta and his family. Umbul in Javanesse language means bathing place. The king also built a building nearby the pool for him and his family for taking a rest. But now, the king of Surakarta and his family don’t use it as a bathing place anymore. They open the bathing place for public.

Goa Jatijajar – Adventure to the Deep of Earth

If you like to go to travelling and dream of an adventure, you have to visit Goa Jatijajar. It is a beautiful cave located in Kebumen, Central Java. Goa Jatijajar is about 42 kilometers to the west of Kebumen, in fact, it is in the foot of a mountain and about 50 meters above sea level. This cave is very beautiful and can attract lots of visitors to come, even there would be always a big crowd during the holiday. Goa Jatijajar is a fantastic place to have an adventure. Exploring the deep of the cave and reaching the edge of the place is amazing to lead you not realize that you are actually walking along 250 meters. You will also be surprised knowing how far you go to the depth of the earth. It’s 40 meters! What a fantastic journey it will be.

Goa Jatijajar is a natural cave that has been existed since thousands years ago. It was only a big hole when it was found for the first time, and nobody knew what it was actually. Then people began to explore it and found that it was a big cave. In 1975, the Kebumen’s government decided to develop the place as a resort. The local government built many facilities, which make people comfort and easier to explore the cave.
